Tina Waldrom speaks with Rodney Olsen on the topic that Evangelism is Not Selling a Belief System. Rodney, host of the Bleeding Daylight podcast, has interviewed some extraordinary people that illustrate this truth. He shares some of their wisdom. Sharing Jesus is more than being armed with the correct theology and ready to defend the faith at any time. Whilst this may be appropriate, it’s not the ideal way to share Jesus. Rodney shares some challenging thoughts and encourages believers that, Evangelism is Not Selling a Belief System.
The story of the Samaritan woman at the well, is the perfect example that evangelism is more than selling a belief system. In this story, Jesus is seen as someone who knows the woman deeply, shows genuine care and connects His message in a very personal way. In a way that will help her. The story illustrates a way of evangelism that is considerate, embracive, ready to listen and so much more. Rodney expands on this biblical story and others from the interviews he has conducted.
In this episode, Rodney talks about Bradley Hopp, the co-founder of Teshuah Tea Company and Neil Tomba, the Senior Pastor of Northwest Bible Church. The stories are remarkable with clear messages that will help Christians share Jesus better. Evangelism is something that everyone can engage with. In fact, Jesus in His last command to go and make disciples, clearly thought that everyone could participate. Rodney shares the stories that illustrate the very real potential for everyone to be involved in evangelism. To be involved in simple yet profound ways. Ways that show and demonstrate a real and living Christ. Evangelism is Not Selling a Belief System.
In this podcast episode, you will discover…
Why Evangelism is Not Selling a Belief System.
What evangelism is if it’s more than selling beliefs.
Examples of people sharing Jesus, not selling a doctrine.
What Bleeding Daylight is all about.
The miracle story of God showing up to a brothel owner.
How to share Jesus so people get it.
Jesus’ style of evangelism: genuine concern and love.
The need for the Kingdom of God to be seen.
Why deeds are very important and words secondary.
How to connect people to Jesus in simple, everyday ways.
Thoughts on doctrine and how it can damage people.
How Aussies prefer to engage with spiritual things today.
And so much more…

Her pure-hearted attempts to gather people and meet the needs of Ukrainians, has led to many exploring and experiencing Christ. From Welcome Hubs to Bible studies, Nataliya’s is experiencing the ingredients that are helping people practically and spiritually. Raised as a Pentecostal, her deeply embedded thoughts on evangelism have been challenged and now reformed, to be more effective.
In this episode, Nataliya shares the story of why and how she became involved with Ukrainians fleeing to Australia. She didn’t have the resources to help but was willing to step out in faith. Outside of their regular full-time employment, Nataliya and her husband Andrey have added this extra work to their busy schedules. The stories of provision, dignity being restored and hope offered are extraordinary. This story is a modern day, Mother Teresa type work, in our own backyard.

Nations can be reached, when leaders gather together to pray, think, share and resource one another. Tina Waldrom speaks with Major Bryce Davies about The Relevance of the Church in Evangelism. Bryce, a Salvation Army Officer with over 25 years of community experience, sees both the advantages and the disadvantages of the established church. This is an encouraging viewpoint, with great insights for both churches and believers.

With a focus on discipleship, Bryce encourages deep relationships with those in the community. Connections where the light of Christ can be seen, and the love of God experienced. He discusses what needs to change and how churches can be more effective in evangelism.
In this episode, Bryce talks about his experiences of journeying with people in the community. His story about Francis Connolly typifies what he has to say. He explains how community people can be discipled and the need for new ways to be considered. It’s half year 2022, and the topic of The Salvation Army and Kim Haworth has been the second most popular episode. Maybe because Kim, an everyday mum, never expected to meet Jesus, let alone become a Divisional Commander. Maybe because she spoke about unexpected promptings from God and how to respond. Maybe because her new initiatives for outreach and mission resonate with so many. Or simply because she’s a woman, and as Tina Waldrom said jokingly, “women are always better to listen to”. Enjoy this episode, Mid-Year Highlights #2 An Unexpected Salvo in Tasmania
In this second most popular Mid-Year episode, Tina Waldrom talks with Kim Haworth who is an Unexpected Salvo in Tasmania. Kim is living the most unexpected life as a Divisional Commander, a State Leader with the Salvation Army. She never thought God was knowable. She never thought she would end up, as a captain in the Salvation Army. She is encouraging new initiatives to reach people for Christ. Alongside existing models of outreach, new organic faith expressions are springing up. The OFE network is a part of Kim’s focus to see revival in Tasmania.
After Kim’s initial encounter with Christ, she sensed a call from God to be involved in church work. It took some time for the Lord to convince her. It took some time for Kim to give her all to this. Her story is down to earth and very warm. It shows the extraordinary things the Lord can do, through someone who says ‘yes’ to the His promptings. It demonstrates the power of a surrendered life in the hands of a God who is on mission to reach the world.
In this episode, Kim talks about the challenges of handling the unexpected promptings of the Lord. From her experience, she concluded that it’s better to give up and just say yes to Jesus. The joy of following Him on the unexpected journey of faith and outreach, far outweighs the challenges. Kim gives some wonderful spiritual advise and talks about the importance of new methods of outreach in Australia.
In this podcast episode, you will discover…
Kim’s story of nominal Christianity to a relationship with Christ.
How a wife and mother end up as a State Leader with the Salvation Army.
How to respond to God’s challenging promptings.
Why fighting God is not the best way to go.
How an invitation to church changed Kim’s life.
Why new methods of evangelism are needed in Australia.
The new OFE Network that is reaching people for Christ.
How new methods can sit alongside existing methods of outreach.
Where the OFE network sits among the ministries of the Salvation Army in Tasmania.

It’s half year 2022, and the topic of death has been most popular. Maybe because it’s fascinating to hear an expert talk about death. Maybe because death touches us all and we need some ideas to minister to non-Christians, during these times. Maybe it was so popular because Steve Morrison, was your ‘good old Aussie bloke’. He was down to earth and very relatable with his Christianity. Enjoy this episode, Mid-Year Highlights #1 Sharing Jesus When People Die.

Steve shares his wisdom and experience, to help believers share Jesus at these times.
Steve had an unusual pathway to the more than thirteen hundred funerals he has now conducted. From the beginning, Steve loved this type of work. His pathway to funeral chaplaincy is, as surprising to him, as it will be to those listening. Steve has walked through countless scenarios. He has seen the varying responses of thousands of people as they respond to grief. He has discovered how to walk with and love people through crisis. He has discovered how to respond appropriately, as a Christian during these times.
In this episode, Steve shares his funeral stories. He talks about the lessons learnt and the wisdom gained. He discusses what’s appropriate and what’s not appropriate when people die. At times, Christians can respond in ways that are not helpful. Steve lays some solid foundations that will help govern responses, when people die. Tina Waldrom talks with Sharee Rice about Healing and Evangelism. Sharee is the executive pastor at Neuma Church in Melbourne, overseeing the area of evangelism. Sharee is seeing many people healed and discovering Jesus through everyday encounters. She is a great example of stepping into the everyday opportunities that God opens up. Stepping into and praying for people to be healed, in everyday spaces. She shares her story of losing faith in this area, but then becoming confident again, in Healing and Evangelism.
As a young person, Sharee suffered from asthma. Due to her own illness, she was keen to see God’s healing touch in her life. She developed a hunger to know about healing and what the Christian faith said. Sharee became a student of the great healing evangelists and revivalists. All was going well until God disappointed her. Sharee had been praying for a sick relative, who was not healed and passed away. That experienced pushed her away from the confidence that she had, to see sick people healed. Many years later, through an unexpected circumstance, the Lord spoke to Sharee and restored her faith and assurance to pray for healing. Today, she is confidently intersecting the lives of many non-believers, seeing God bring His healing and love to their worlds.
In this episode, Sharee speaks openly and honestly, about the struggles and joys of praying for healing with non-believers. She shares her own stories and unique ways to pray for people in the community without being ‘weird’. Sharee models how to pray for others, ‘as you go’ about everyday life. She makes praying for the sick, for those who don’t know Christ, simple, easy and doable in today’s world. With warmth and genuine love for people, Sharee’s story will help many grow in the area of Healing and Evangelism.
In this podcast episode, you will discover…
How praying for the sick can help people see Jesus.
Sharee’s story from doubt to faith, in healing and evangelism.
